Did you know that from 2007 through 2014 the number of Black owned banks in the U.S. decreased by almost 50%? Trillions of dollars flow through the banking system each year and Black banks only see a fraction of 1% of those funds. Imagine if consumers and Black owned businesses put our funds in these banks as opposed to these large banks that aren’t interested in supporting our communities. We would give these Black owned banks the ability to grow and expand, so they could open new branches and create more opportunities for those of us in the communities they are designed to serve. They can lend money for mortgages as well as to businesses for startup/expansion capital.
