There are a ton of ways to make some extra money and I want to share with you some creative strategies that I’ve used to save and make money online with not that much effort.

Sell your gift cards

Did you get a gift card last year on your birthday that you have no intention on using anytime soon? Well there are sites where you can go and sell your unwanted and unused gift cards. Check out www.Raise.com

*Sidenote* You can also go on here and buy gift cards as well for less than face value. It’s another good way to save.

Get cashback on your online shopping

Every time I’m about to buy something online I check Ebates first to see if the site I’m about to purchase from offers cashback. It’s easy to sign up and it’s free money. It takes a couple of months sometimes to get your rebate but you can’t complain for free money. Especially considering you were going to buy the item anyway. Why not get some of that money back. Redeem your credit card points and frequent flyer miles for gift cards

If you have a credit card that offers you points each time you use it, most of the time those points can be redeemed for gift cards. You can pick a gift card for a store you plan on shopping at in the near future, you can gift them to someone or you can sell your gift card like I mentioned above and get the cash. Some airlines offer the same thing. Always sign up for the frequent flyer program of any airline you ever use. It’s free and you never know, you just might use it enough to earn a few free gift cards.

Sell Your Old CDs and DVDs

With music and movies going digital now, those old CDs and DVDs you have sitting around your house are collecting dust. Why not make some money off of them? There are a few sites online you can sell them to and make a few extra dollars. I like www.secondspin.com but you can search around for others as well and see where you get the best offer. You do need the original case for everything you sell though. There might be sites that accept loose discs but I haven’t seen any.

Now that you’ve got some ideas, TAKE ACTION! Just about all of these require minimal work. Any money I make this way I use towards one of three things. My investment account, my savings and/or towards a debt. I know it’s tempting to want to treat yourself with the extra funds but this is where you really need to be disciplined.
